Restaurant Review

I went to "A to Z cafe" with Saeko. It locates in Omotesando. It is in fifth floor of equbo building. The exterior is just a simple building.

However, entering in the restaurant, we can see a beautiful view looking out the window. The interior design looks like a house. It is divided into some rooms without doors. There are some kinds of seats, for example, chairs, sofas. The lights are not too bright and calm BGM is used.

We can see Aoyama's view from the window.

The interior is as if the restaurant is a house.
We can spend time relaxing.

The tables are like a balcony.

Today's lunch menu!!

I ordered a special meat lunch offer that changes from day to day. Saeko ordered a fish one. The meat lunch of the day is a shiso-miso-yaki of dark meat from the leg and the fish one is a nambandsuke of a marlin. Each lunch is served with sashimi of samon, kinpira-gobo, pickles, gokoku rice, and miso soup. The price is 1,080 yen. I think that it is cheap. We can have another serving of rice, miso soup, and drink.

↑The fish lunch

The clerks are very good to customers. Before calling, they noticed us and poured tea. We had a second serving of rice. The quantity was not much. Women are satified with that but it may not be enough for men.

Many customers are women. Some people are alone. The restaurant mainly provides Japanese food and it is balanced well, so it is popular by women.

Book Review -Travelling Foodstuffs and Early Colonial Eating Habits-

The stuffs like potatoes, sugar-cane, maize have been studied by histrians and anthropologist.

The United States and Austraria were a colony.
The food which is grown in these countries is eaten by colonizer's country.
In Europe, vegitarian became common because of the advent of many crops from the New World.
However, no all areas increased the consumption of vegetables at the expense of meat.

All foods have history, but the progress is various.
The colonize history is increasingly related to food.
And colonizer's countries are also influenced by that.
    Food is traveling.

Food For All and Second Harvest Japan

What are their main activities / events?
Food For All: It enables homeless people to lean new skills. It helps them to make informed choices and find solutions to their problems. For example, it encourages them to do voluntary activity.
Second Harvest Japan: It supplies foods to homeless people and people who can't have enough foods. .

How do they deal with the problem of food waste?
Food For All: This year, it donated fruit and vegetables which are used in the preparation of the meals. Its expenditure was reduced and recycling initiatives were increased.
Second Harvest Japan: It takes food which is dumped from food production factory.

How would you be able to help  / volunteer for these organizations?
Food For All: We can donate money, or clothes. The organization is running a charity shop.
Second Harvest Japan: We can donate money, foods, and do volunteer.

Which group seems to be the most active?
I think that Second Harvest Japan is the most active. This is because it supplies food many people. They are not only homeless, but also children in an institution for maltreated children, or victims of DV, and so on.

What do they have in common? How do their approaches differ?
They have in common that they take waste foods and supply them to many poor people. Food For All has a charity shop. Second Harvest Japan connect with many businesses.

I have thought about food waste problem. Particularly, Japan wastes a lot of food. These organization should be made more, and people should this problem seriously.

    The Wall Street Journal

"Slow Consumer Spending In U.S. Signals Caution"

This article says that Americans consume less than before and save money now.
The personal saving rate was 5.6% in October, the highest level since December 2012.

I have an image that American people consume very much, particularly, foods.
However, the situation of economic is changing and incomes of Americans are increase 0.4%.
Once looking at the data, their spending seem to increase but they increase only 0.3%.
It is possible that they are worried about the future.

In Japan, now, economic is inflation.
But people who get the benefit are only rich people.
Poor people don't get enough salary.
Despite of that, the price of food is increasing.

The financial condition of the world seems to be unstable.
The food style of people may also change.

    "Oil Boosts Energy Shares"

In most Asian markets, oil prices are increasing. This is because Russia and Syria are in conflict situation. Syria produces little oil for Islamic State terrorism.

Increasing oil price, the prices of various productions also increase. Of course, food price, too.

"The Best Tech Gifts of 2015"

Samsung Gear VR Powered by Oculus, $100, I pay attention.

The device may take us the popular restaurant. We are able to search the restaurant and decide which restaurant is the best.
